Maxis

Maxis
Maxis is the first telecommunications company to launch a HSDPA (High Speed Data Packet Access) broadband service for residential use in Malaysia on 26th September 2006. Currently, Maxis is the top selling wireless broadband (save Streamyx) in Malaysia. Maxis offers great mobility with nationwide coverage, superb ease of application and also fancy modems for the fashion-conscious.

  • Connection Speed (Back to top)

Speed-wise, Maxis’ performance will highly vary from area to area. Truth be told, Maxis has never concentrated much on speed. Maxis’ focus is on convenience, coverage, ease of application and well, fancy modems.

Fair Usage Policy (Back to top)

Did I mention that Maxis is also not really the choice for heavy downloaders? With only 3GB bandwidth allowance per month, again I stress that Maxis is more suitable for those on the go who needs to check their email or Facebook from anywhere in the city or in the deepest jungle in Malaysia.

    Coverage (Back to top)

Now this may be the reason that you would want to subscribe to Maxis – their coverage. Their wireless broadband service has coverage at most of the Klang Valley and also at some other states. Check out their coverage here.

    Contract Policy (Back to top)

All Maxis wireless broadband packages come with a 12-months contract. If someone were to terminate their subscription before that period, he or she has to pay a penalty of RM200. Plus, do take note that the modem is leased to the user and even after 12 months, it still belongs to Maxis.

Ease of Application (Back to top)

Maxis has quite a fast application method. You first need a copy of your identification card or passport and RM100 for the upfront payment. Then after filling some forms, your account could be activated within two hours. Contact us here and we’ll check Maxis’ performance at your place. If you’re satisfied, we could sign you up immediately.

    Extra Stuff (Back to top)

This might come to as a shock to most people but Maxis has a regulation that reads so:
“4.8 Maxis may, at its sole discretion, automatically disconnect the customer’s internet session after a period of inactivity, which may vary from 20 minutes to 30 minutes. This automatic disconnection is to allow maximum network performance.”
